Privacy Policy

1. Overview

The Coast Entertainment Holdings Group (comprising Coast Entertainment Holdings Limited, Coast Entertainment Operations Limited, Coast Entertainment Management Limited, Dreamworld Wildlife Foundation Limited and the Coast Entertainment Trust) (together “Coast Entertainment Holdings”, “we” or “us”) own and operate the following Australian-based leisure businesses:

  • WhiteWater World
  • SkyPoint Observation Deck
  • SkyPoint Climb

Coast Entertainment Holdings is committed to protecting the personal information we hold about you.  The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) govern the way in which we must manage your personal information.  

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information (including any sensitive information, such as health information).  In particular it details how we collect, use, disclose and store your personal information and how you can contact us to make an access or correction request, or privacy complaint. This Privacy Policy applies only to Coast Entertainment Holdings’ Australian businesses.   

Our Privacy Policy applies to your personal information regardless of the way in which we collect it, for example, whether it is collected via one of our websites or Apps, when you visit one of our venues, when you contact one of our customer service departments or visit one of our social media sites.

2. Your personal information

Personal information includes any information or opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable regardless of whether the information is true or not.  Coast Entertainment Holdings only collects personal information (and sensitive information, such as health information) which is necessary for, or related to, one or more of its functions or activities.

The types of personal information we collect from you will depend upon the type of interaction that you have with us.  Broadly speaking, the types of personal information that we collect may include:

  • your full name, address, email address and phone number;
  • age, date of birth and gender;
  • bank account details and tax file numbers;
  • visitation, purchase, annual programs such as +Plus and redemption history;
  • health information - if you intend to use one of our venues or services where your health status may be a consideration;
  • whether you are a member of one of our commercial partners with whom we organise discounts or other promotional arrangements for members and customers;
  • where applicable your licence, vehicle registration and insurance details;
  • your image, if you appear in photographs or videos taken at one of our venues;
  • enquiries, complaints, feedback and other information you share with us when communicating with us;
  • marketing information, such as your interests based on your use of our website and Apps, preferences for our products and services, marketing and communication preferences, survey responses and information you share with us when you enter our promotions;
  • usage and technical information collected by us when you use our websites and Apps, or interact with our marketing or online documentation (see Internet users section below for more information);
  • social media handles or usernames, where you interact with us on social media; and
  • if you apply for a job in one of our businesses, details about your education, employment history, membership of professional associations, referees and next of kin.

Where we collect sensitive information from you (such as health information or details of memberships of professional associations) we will only do so with your consent, unless otherwise permitted or required by law.

3. How we collect personal information

We may collect personal information from you in a number of ways, including:

  • when you send us an e-mail, “contact us” message or make any other form of written enquiry;
  • via our website, mobile sites, applications, widgets and other mobile interactive features (collectively “Apps”), for example, when you submit an online form, provide feedback through a QR Code App, or through the automatic collection of usage and technical information via cookies, tags, pixels and similar tracking technologies on our Website and Apps;
  • when you interact with our official social media pages that we control, such as the official pages for our various businesses, including but not limited to Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, YouTube and Instagram;
  • when you visit or call one of our venues to ask about our services;
  • when you sign up to use our services, whether online or in person;
  • when you make a booking at one of our venues, either online or in person;
  • when you enter a promotion, competition, provide feedback or participate in a survey, market research or other promotional activities which we (or one of our agents) conduct;
  • when you purchase tickets to our venues or other products and services;
  • when you purchase photos of your visit to one of our venues;
  • when you complete a waiver form for one of our experiences or venues;
  • when you sign up to receive our newsletters or marketing material or join any membership, annual pass/product, and /or other programs we offer;
  • if a photograph or video recording of you is taken at one of our venues; and
  • when you submit an application for employment with us.

When you visit our venues or attend our events, we collect your personal information through our closed-circuit television (CCTV) system and similar surveillance and monitoring technologies which may capture your image, movements, actions and behaviour. We collect and use this information for security monitoring and incident investigation, protection of employees, visitors and property and as otherwise permitted by law. Access to this information is restricted to authorised employees and may be disclosed to insurers, legal representatives, and law enforcement and government bodies where required by law.  

There may be some instances where personal information about you will be collected indirectly through third parties because it is unreasonable or impractical to collect personal information directly from you.  For example, from:

  • service providers and resellers who help us sell tickets to our venues and other products and services;
  • your friends via a refer a friend promotion;
  • our commercial partners with whom we organise discounts or other promotional arrangements for members and customers;
  • your parent or guardian, or someone else duly authorised to act on your behalf;
  • our share registry service provider;
  • debit and payment service providers who process transactions on behalf of our various businesses;
  • market research organisations we engage to conduct market research;
  • recruiters we have retained and from referees you have provided in support of a job application.

4. Access by children

As we cannot distinguish the age of people accessing our websites and Apps, our Privacy Policy applies to all individuals. If a person under sixteen years of age has provided us with personal information or consented to receive marketing communications without parental or guardian consent, those details may be removed, and consent may be withdrawn by emailing us at [email protected] .

5. How we use your personal information

The personal information that we collect and hold about you depends on your interaction with us. Generally, we will collect, hold and use your personal information if it is reasonably necessary for or directly related to the performance of our functions and activities, which includes:

  • providing our products and services to you or someone else you know;
  • providing, operating and managing our venues;
  • to respond to your query or feedback;
  • to process your application for product supply or membership of one of our businesses or to use or purchase one of our products or services;
  • to process your order;
  • to communicate with you or a person acting on your behalf in relation to a booking or your attendance at our venues, including operational communications;
  • to promote and market our businesses, venues, products and services to you and others, and to inform you about products, services, offers and promotions of our third-party partners that may be of interest to you;
  • to personalise our products, services and offers and to exclude you from seeing or receiving personalised content and marketing communications that are not relevant to you, including through the use of artificial intelligence models;
  • to process and consider your application for employment;
  • to assist with our internal business processes;
  • for market research purposes and to improve our product and service offering;
  • to administer contests, promotions and surveys;
  • for any other purposes that you would reasonably expect; and
  • to enable us to comply with our obligations under the law.

We may send you marketing communications by email, text messages and other digital services (including via social media and targeted online ads), phone or post, where permitted by law. These communications may contain marketing and promotional material about our businesses, the products and services we offer, special offers, updates or promotions and third-party products and offers that we think may be of interest to you.  If you no longer wish to receive marketing communications from us, you may unsubscribe or opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the marketing communication, replying STOP to our text messages, or by contacting us using the details in the ‘contact us’ section below.  When you opt out of receiving marketing communications, we will cease sending direct marketing communications to you.  However, you may still see general advertising in the market, and we will still contact you about important things, such as information relating to your bookings, the products or services you have purchased or changes to our policies.  

6. When we disclose your personal information

We only use or disclose personal information about you for the purposes for which it was collected, as set out above.  We may disclose personal information about you to:

  • related entities within the Coast Entertainment Holdings Group;
  • contractors, agents and suppliers we engage to provide products and/or perform services for us, for example customer feedback analysts, digital marketing agencies, online shopping cart service providers, photo processing companies, payment processors, analytics and IT service providers, social media and other digital platforms that help us to deliver offers and targeted online advertising, market research service providers and personal trainers;
  • third-party partners that we work with to sell, advertise and market products and services and with whom we have agreed information sharing arrangements;
  • event organisers and corporate booking partners in circumstances where you are attending an event organised by them;
  • our share registry service provider for the purpose of managing our investors’ holdings;
  • our professional advisors, such as lawyers and accountants;
  • law enforcement bodies;
  • a purchaser of all or part of Coast Entertainment Holdings' business; and
  • any other person for any other purposes that would be reasonably expected (including if required by law).

When third parties perform services on our behalf, we take reasonable steps to ensure the third party will protect your personal information in accordance with Australian privacy laws and in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy.  

7. Disclosure of personal information overseas

From time to time, we may disclose your personal information to service providers who are based overseas or store data in overseas locations, including Singapore and the United States.

We do not sell your name or other personal information to third parties.

8. Anonymity and pseudonyms

From time to time, you may be able to visit our venues or websites and deal with us anonymously or by pseudonym.  However, we require certain personal information to be able to provide you with the services, products or information you seek.  If you do not provide us with certain required information, we may not be able to provide you or someone else you know with access to those services or products or respond to your request or communication.  

For example, we may not be able to respond to your enquiry, assess your application, enter you in a promotion, or send you requested information.

9. Updating personal information

We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we collect, hold and use is accurate, complete and up to date. However, the accuracy of the information we hold depends on the accuracy of the information you provide.

You can access or request us to correct your personal information at any time.  We ask you to keep your information as current as possible so that we may continue to provide you with useful information. If, upon receiving access to your personal information or at any other time, you believe the personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, please notify us immediately.  We will take reasonable steps to correct the information so that it is accurate, complete and up to date.

If there is a lawful reason for not providing you with access or correcting your personal information, we will provide you with a written explanation for the refusal (unless it would be unreasonable to provide those reasons) and will inform you of the mechanism to complain about our refusal at that time.

Please note that we will respond to your requests as soon as reasonably practicable and we may charge a reasonable fee for processing your request (but not for making the request for access).

10. Security measures to protect your personal information

Coast Entertainment Holdings takes reasonable steps to maintain the security of your personal information and to prevent the misuse, interference, loss, modification and unauthorised access to or disclosure of your personal information.

We have implemented a variety of technical and organisational security measures to safeguard the privacy of your personal information. These measures include:

  • your information is stored on secured networks consistent with industry standards, and is only accessible by those employees and agents who have special access rights to such systems;
  • our ecommerce payments are securely processed by our ecommerce partners using secure payment gateways consistent with industry standards: we do not receive, process or store your payment information;
  • industry-standard encryption technologies are used when transferring or receiving sensitive information supplied by users;
  • where your information is in hardcopy form, such documents are stored in secured areas only accessible by those employees and agents with special access rights;
  • our payment terminals (physical and virtual) for in person card payment transactions are PCI/DSS Compliant to provide necessary security over credit card data;
  • our IT networks regularly undergo necessary penetration testing to identify and remediate potential opportunities for unauthorised data access; and
  • our point-of-sale systems do not store payment card information.

We also ensure where possible that our contractors, agents, commercial partners and third-party service providers that handle personal information have the same information security measures in place.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee or warrant its complete security.  No data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.  If you have an online account with one of our businesses, your account will be able to be accessed by anyone who knows your login details.  You should keep your login details, and any other information you use to remember these details, private and secure.

11. Internet users

If you access our websites or interact with our digital marketing communications including emails, we may collect technical and usage information about you. This may include your IP address, previously visited websites, device ID, operating system, browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address or device, pages visited, content viewed, session duration, and how you interact with our advertising and marketing communications, such as views and clicks. Technical and usage information may not identify you directly but may be linked with other information we hold about you.

Our websites and social media accounts and direct marketing communications may use cookies, tracking pixels, tags and similar technologies. These technologies may be used by us or by third parties acting on our behalf to:

  • enable website functionality, including online shopping and account features;
  • recognise users and remember preferences;
  • understand how our websites are used;
  • analyse website traffic and improve our products and services;
  • personalise content, offers and marketing communications; and
  • deliver and measure advertising across different platforms.

A cookie is a small string of information that a website transfers to your browser for identification and functionality purposes. If you prefer not to receive cookies, you can configure your browser to reject cookies or to notify you when they are being used. You may need to adjust these settings separately for each browser and device you use. Rejecting or disabling cookies may limit the functionality of our websites, Apps and the online shopping process.

12. Analytics

All our websites use web analytics services, including services provided by Google Analytics, which use cookies to help analyse how users use the website.  The information generated by the cookie about your use of one of our websites (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by service providers on servers in the United States of America.

The analytics service provider will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of our websites, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage.  They may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on behalf of the analytics service provider.  

By using our websites, you consent to the processing of data about you by analytics service providers in the manner and for the purposes set out above.   

13. Linked sites

Our websites may contain links to other websites.  These links are provided solely for your convenience.  We are not responsible for the privacy practices of linked websites and linked websites are not subject to our privacy policies and procedures. If you submit personal information to or via any linked site, the privacy policy applying to that information will be outside our control. You should therefore check the privacy policy of the linked site before submitting information to or via that site.

14. Changes to our Privacy Policy

From time to time, we may need to change this Privacy Policy to reflect our changing business practices and/or changes in the law.  We may therefore change this Privacy Policy at any time by posting the amended Privacy Policy on our websites.  All personal information collected and held by us will be governed by our most recent Privacy Policy as posted on our websites.

15. Privacy complaint or concern

If you have a complaint or concern about the way in which your privacy has been handled by Coast Entertainment Holdings, please email us at [email protected] .   We will respond by email within 2 working days confirming receipt of your complaint or concern.  We will then proactively investigate your complaint or concern and provide you with our response within a reasonable timeframe.  If, after receiving our response, you still consider that your privacy complaint or concern has not been resolved, you may then take your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (www.oaic.gov.au).
